Roderick James Charlton (Managing Director)
Rod Charlton graduated with a masters' cum laude in Psychology in 1994. He lectured at the then Rand Afrikaans University in Johannesburg for five years, at Post Grad level. He has presented at numerous conferences both locally and internationally, was a contributing editor for the magazine "Psychology Today" and is an affiliate member of the American Psychological Association. He left academia to start a private practice focusing on the positive aspects of psychology (growing people’s strengths, developing talent) and performance psychology.
Rod's interest in performance psychology started when he worked in England coaching Rugby. He was fortunate enough to work with some of the 1997 British Lions players. Since then he has worked with a variety of top class sportsmen and women, some of whom are currently competing in the international sports arena.
Rod started working with business leaders and organisations in 2002. He has consulted to a wide variety of organisations and companies in various sectors of society. Some of the organisations Rod has coached and facilitated in include KPMG, Rand Water, IBM, McKinsey Consulting, Deloitte & Touche, Standard Bank, ABSA Capital, Microsoft, Anglican Church Dioceses of Johannesburg, WITS Dept. of Mining, WITS Reproductive Health Research Unit, Otis Elevators, Redcube Agency. In 2008 Rod was asked to head up the human performance aspect of a ground breaking study for the mining sector.
Rod's main focus is helping both organisations and individuals develop and maximise their talents and more importantly to SUSTAIN this peak performance. He works on both an individual level as well as within a wider team. Rod specialises in facilitating processes that seek to optimise performance across the workforce, from Board Room and Head Office to factory floor and rock face.
